Brian Setzer Orchestra
The Brian Setzer Orchestra is a swing and jump blues band formed in 1990 by legendary “Stray Cats” frontman Brian Setzer. The orchestra is styled as a big band, including full sections of trumpet, trombone, saxophone, rhythm, piano, string, bass, drums and vocals. The orchestra began playing in clubs around California until they signed and record deal and began recording studio albums. The band found major popularity during the “Swing Revival” period of the mid 1990’s, along with their cover of “Jump Jive an’ Wail.” The Orchestra then embarked on several U.S. and world tours. In the early 2000’s, they released two albums of Christmas music and went on several supporting tours. Over their career they released an impressive 8 studio albums, including “Songs from Lonely Avenue” released in 2009. The song “Mr. Surfer Goes Jazzin” was nominated for a Grammy Award in the best Rock Instrumental Performance category. Brian Setzer Orchestra still tours all over the U.S. today, especially during Christmas time when they can be found performing great holiday hits!
