Anthrax & Testament
Showtime: 8:00pm
Music Hall at House of Blues
Anthrax and Testament are two bands that are synonymous with thrash metal, and each group is a powerhouse in the metal scene on their own. Anthrax was formed in the early 1980s, and released their first album "Fistful of Metal" in 1984. Their heavy metal style gained them a strong fanbase, and they were dubbed one of the "Big Four" of the thrash metal scene. In 1987 they released "Among the Living" which had songs focused on movies, comic books, and Stephen King novels. This album contained "Caught in a Mosh" and "Indians," which are still considered Anthrax classics today. Over the next few decades, the band returned to a darker sound, which gave the band even more prominence with metal fans everywhere. Anthrax has released 10 albums so far in their career, with their most recent "Worship Music" released last year. Alongside Anthrax in the thrash metal realm is Testament. Testament was also formed in the 1980's, and they are often credited as one of the most popular bands of the scene. To date, Testament has released 9 studio albums, 4 live albums, and 6 compilation albums. They released their debut album "The Legacy" in 1987. This album received instant fame within thrash circles and Testament was often compared with fellow thrash pioneers Metallica. Testament's biggest success came in 1992 with their album "The Ritual," which debuted at #55 on the Billboard charts. In support of their album released, Testament toured all over the Untied States and in many countries throughout the world. Testament recently finished recording their 10th studio album, "Dark Roots of Earth," which will be released this summer.
