After 15 successful years in Ft. Lauderdale - Café Martorano has opened a second location in Las Vegas at the Rio Hotel.
The key to understanding Steve Martorano may lie in his devotion to Frank Sinatra. Old blue eyes was known for a credo of "Doing it my way." Steve has taken that philosophy to heart, staying true to his vision through and through. And it's done him just fine.
Steve Martorano was born into a strong Italian family in Philadelphia in 1957. It was through his heritage and his home that he began his Italian-American cooking style. Side-by-side with family members, Steve learned the flavors and philosophies of food. Staying true to this foundation and continuing to perfect his craft on his own, and according to his own terms, Steve has taken Italian-American cooking to new levels.
Steve has successfully transferred his vision of how the restaurant business should be into the South Florida mega-scene. Along the way, he has managed to remain loyal to his "Italian guy from the neighborhood" philosophy while still providing the high level of service demanded by some of the nation's most hardened diners.
Over the past fifteen years, Café Martorano has grown from 800 square feet to a 3,000 square foot restaurant with fourteen tables and a long bar. Steve's impeccable food and Café Martorano's topline club ambience attracts some of the hottest celebrities from the entertainment and sports world - Ludacris, Ja Rule, Ashanti, Shaquille O'Neal, Matt Damon and the entire cast of the "Sopranos" to name a few.
There are no reservations. Diners put their faith in Steve to provide the best and have been waiting in line every night for the past thirteen years. Café Martorano has consistently received top ratings from Zagat's Survey Guide as well as being listed as the top restaurant in Gold Coast magazine and Fort. Lauderdale magazine. In February 2005, Steve's meatballs won the "Most Like Mama's" award at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival.
