Caesars Windsor and employees proudly raise more than $10K for the Philippines Relief FundBook A Room
Today, Caesars Windsor and employees proudly donated $10,036 to the Red Cross in support of the Philippines Relief Fund to help the victims of the devastating Typhoon Haiyan that affected thousands in November. Last month, Caesars pledged to match employee donations up to $5,000. Between donations made through an internal automatic donation system and an incredibly successful bake sale, employees raised $5,036.
Red Cross Windsor-Essex representatives Rick Champ, Operational Lead, and Billie Anne Hudson, Emergency Respondent and Disaster Management, were on-hand to accept the donation. Champ said, “We are very thankful to Caesars Windsor and especially their employees for this generous donation. Every dollar counts and the entire amount will go directly to the Philippines to help rebuild the thousands of lives that were affected.”
As news of the Filipino tragedy hit the media, Caesars Windsor employees quickly rallied and asked what theycould do to help. Zoe Glykis, Caesars Windsor’s Assistant Manager in the Market Buffet, watched the news unfold at home. “When I saw the suffering of all those people I knew I had to do something. I came to work and asked if we could coordinate a bake sale for employees to raise money for these poor people.” With help from coworkers like Deborah Shearer, Assistant Manager of the Market Buffet, home bakers and support rom management, they held a very successful sale featuring dozens of freshly baked goods. After 3 hours, there was not a crumb left behind and they raised over $2,600.
“Employees were so eager to help out and they did it with pleasure and a smile. It was such a pleasant experience,” Glykis added. Glykis also wanted to make special mention of Food Runners Marthe Pellerche, Theresa Bruce, Malaine Duby and Bartender Michelle Murphy who helped make the bake sale a success.
