Knowing that healthy workplaces make for healthier, happier and productive teams, Caesars Windsor created the Joint Wellness Committee with union and non-union members. Since its launch, the Committee has championed a number of resources and projects in support of employee health.
Kelly Gregoire-Wolfe, Caesars Windsor’s Vice President of Human Resources, said, “Caesars Windsor is committed to proactively providing our employees information and resources to lead a healthy lifestyle. Employing a holistic approach, we administer these efforts through a variety of programs including our HERO Employee Volunteers, The Joint Wellness Committee and the CodeGreen Environmental program, encouraging exercise and activity, social opportunities and overall healthy living.”
In order to receive a Gord Smith Healthy Workplace Award, local workplaces must implement one or more workplace wellness activities related to healthy eating, smoking cessation, physical activity and mental health. Activities must include awareness raising, education and skill building, environmental supports and policies; all of which help to sustain healthy practices.
Established in 2001, the Gord Smith Healthy Workplace Awards annually recognizes workplaces in Windsor & Essex County who commit to improving employee health through comprehensive workplace wellness programs. This year, 27 local workplaces received Healthy Workplace Awards for their extraordinary commitment to the health and well-being of their employees and in some cases, retirees, and family members.
