For immediate release: Wednesday, January 29, 2020
Windsor, ON – Legendary rock bands Loverboy and George Thorogood & The Destroyers will bring their high energy to The Colosseum stage Thursday, April 30 at 8:00 p.m.
American rock legend George Thorogood & The Destroyers have sold over 15 million albums, played more than 8,000 ferocious live shows, and built a catalog of classic hits that includes “Who Do You Love”, “I Drink Alone”, “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer”, “Move It On Over” and “Bad To The Bone” as “one of the most iconic bands in rock & roll history” (Rapid City Journal).
They broke records with their 50 Dates/50 States tour, delivered landmark performances at Live Aid and on Saturday Night Live, and became mainstays of radio, MTV and stages worldwide for more than two generations. Through it all, they’ve remained one of the most consistent – and consistently passionate – progenitors of blues-based rock in pop culture history.
Closing out the show will be the legendary Canadian rock band Loverboy. Since forming in 1978, Loverboy has been “Working for the Weekend” delighting audiences around the world since and quickly becoming an MTV darling as one of the first bands featured on the music channel.
With their trademark red leather pants, bandannas, big rock sound and high-energy live shows, Loverboy has sold more than 10 million albums, earning four multi-platinum plaques and a trio of double-platinum releases. Their string of hits include, in addition to the anthem “Working for the Weekend,” such arena rock staples as “Lovin’ Every Minute of It,” “This Could Be the Night,” “Hot Girls in Love”, “Turn Me Loose,” and “Queen of the Broken Hearts.”
Loverboy won a record six Juno awards and were one of the Top 5 grossing touring acts in the world, performing in over 100 cities across the U.S. and Canada. Their success made them the first Canadian group ever to earn Columbia Records’ exclusive Crystal Globe Award, celebrating the sale of over five million albums outside their native country.
