Early in the morning and the sound of the alarm goes off, signaling the start to Greta’s day. After breakfast, the Belgian Malinois heads off to one of the Caesars Entertainment properties in Northern Nevada with her human counterpart - Security Officer Tony Broadfoot.

With logistics such as email aside, Broadfoot and Greta spend the day patrolling Harvey’s Lake Tahoe, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, and Harrah’s Reno.

“Everybody that we come in contact with says ‘hi’ to Greta. All of the team members know her by name and say ‘good morning, Greta.’ I don’t even exist anymore,” said Broadfoot with a laugh.

Greta is the first K-9 security dog trained for the properties in Northern Nevada. Broadfoot, however, is no stranger to working with canines.

Broadfoot started his career in law enforcement and worked as a K-9 handler for a police department in California before bringing his skills to Caesars Entertainment in 2018.

The pair have been working side by side since April preparing for their important role. Together, they embarked in weekslong training and were certified together before stepping onto the casino floor.

“Everything has been such a whirlwind,” said Broadfoot. “She has been a blast to be around.”

After training in Southern Nevada, Broadfoot recalled a special moment he shared with his partner.

“We were traveling back home on a plane and I didn’t know how Greta would react. She fell asleep, and put her head on my shoulder,” said Broadfoot.

The moment signaled the beginning of a beautiful bond. Whether at work or home, Greta and Broadfoot are inseparable.

“When she is off the clock, she is just a dog. Whenever I go somewhere, she goes with me,” said Broadfoot.

Nearly two months after their partnership began, Broadfoot can’t help but rave about Greta.

“There is a need for K-9 officers,” said Broadfoot. He hopes her new career will help expand the K-9 program for Caesars Entertainment.
