Waste

OUR WASTE REDUCTIONS

We have implemented innovative technologies to process different kinds of waste and partner with nonprofit organization Clean the World to recycle more than 100,000 pounds of soap and bottled amenities per year from our hotel rooms to help fight bacterial disease. Since 2010, we have donated more than 2.3 million bars of soap, distributed to people in more than 100 countries.

“This is such an important firsthand experience. I can now share with my housekeeping team that I’ve taken the soap they’ve collected and included it in hygiene kits to benefit others.”

-Marta de Solorio, Housekeeping Inspector, Bally’s Las Vegas

Some additional highlights from our waste programs:

  • Educating kitchen staff on best practices for upstream sorting of food waste
  • Establishing a single-stream recycling program at our loading docks to separate recycled materials from trash and to regain silverware and other reusable items from accidentally entering our waste streams
  • Earning the Environmental Leader Award for our waste program in 2016

OUR PROGRESS

Our ongoing efforts have resulted in 41% of waste diverted away from landfills in 2017. By 2020, Caesars Entertainment’s goal is to divert 50% of all waste from landfill, and reach 60% diversion by 2025. Since our 2012 base year, we have reduced waste generated in our operations by 12% on a normalized basis to property square footage and diverted more than 328,000 tons of waste from landfill.

In 2017, 100% of our North American owned or managed hotel destinations achieved a 4 Green Key rating or higher. Green Key is a rigorous program that ranks, certifies, and inspects hotels and resorts based on their commitment to sustainable operations. 5 Green Keys is the highest possible rating. We are proud to have the most Green Key-certified resorts among any gaming company in the world.
