Tammy is donating her $500 prize to the American Cancer Society
Tammy’s Causes: Breast Cancer, helping children and seniors
Tammy is also particularly passionate about finding a cure for cancer. It is a cause that has personally impacted her own life. Despite currently battling cancer and having overcome it three times already she still manages to garner the strength and energy to fundraise and raise awareness. She is creative in her fundraising efforts and has started her own team, The Persuaders’ to participate in Breast Cancer walks with her. She also has bi-weekly bake sales to fundraise. All together her imaginative fundraising efforts have raised over $4,050!
(Janet Saterlie, Performance and Culture Advisor, Flamingo Las Vegas)
Janet is donating her $500 prize to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth
Janet’s Causes: Helping children and her team members
Janet used her creativity to introduce a new type of toy drive to three different locations within Las Vegas. She decided to focus her efforts inward and help foster a caring culture amongst team members and develop a special kind of toy drive. Since 2015 her program has allowed other team members to “adopt” families who needed assistance during the holidays and provide those families with gifts from their children’s wish lists. When the program first started a total of 51 families participated. Janet’s initial idea has expanded to other locations over the years and was able to help close to 300 families this past holiday season!
Congratulations to LaShawn, Tammy, and Janet your volunteerism inspires us all to share our time and talent with our communities.
