Comedian Chris Rock brings his Total Blackout Tour to North Carolina for a Harrah’s Cherokee show on May 25.
Rock started out as a stand-up comic and gained national attention when he landed a job at “Saturday Night Live” in the early ‘90s. He was known as one of the “Bad Boys of SNL” along with Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider and David Spade.
In 1991 he released his first comedy album, “Born Suspect,” and earned critical acclaim for his role in the movie “New Jack City.”
After his SNL career he appeared in several episodes of “In Living Color.” Rock went on to star in several HBO comedy specials. HBO also gave him a talk show, “The Chris Rock Show,” which won an Emmy for writing.
Throughout the '90s, Rock had supporting roles in movies like “Dogma,” “Beverly Hills Ninja” and “Lethal Weapon 4. He also starred in “The Longest Yard,” “Bad Company” and “Down to Earth.” Rock is known for his voice work in “Madagascar.”
He has written for films and has branched out into directing with films like “Head of State” and “I Think I Love My Wife.”
Fans will also know him from his gigs as host for the Academy Awards in 2005 and 2015.
