I recently visited Harrah's Cherokee for the first time in several months since the pandemic began. My room, 1100, was in the newly renovated Mountain Tower. The renovations are very nice, larger than Creek Tower, and the color scheme is very calming. These rooms will be a stellar once the microwave and coffee maker are returned post-pandemic. Another nice touch is that basic internet is now free and the hi-speed is cheaper than the old internet service! The only suggestion for the room is that the shower floor should be texturized, because once soap hits it, the floor becomes very slippery. The only other detractor is that my room was next to the service area, which meant I heard doors slamming. As for COVID protocols, there was the standard temperature check upon entering the hotel and lots of disinfecting of the check-in counter in the lobby, and hand sanitizer being distributed. Check in took some time, but the staff were very good and my room was ready before 4 p.m. The casino was very crowded, very little social distancing was observed. Machines were taken out of service, but many in service had people sitting side by side. It was nice that no smoking was permitted. I think this helped with masking. I didn't see any cleaning of machines, but I had my own Lysol wipes. Selu Gardens was open for dinner which was nice. All staff were very pleasant. The menu had enough options to please most people. I had the blackend salmon, a small center portion was delivered. Unfortunately I had to return it because it was raw. I received in its place a thin tail piece which was cooked through. It had no flavor. With it I had brussel sprouts which were very good and french onion soup that was oddly sweet, had rosemary and boursin coated crostini. It was a combination that did not work. The price was reasonable its just that the food was a miss that night.
