Indie rockers The Shins hail from Albuquerque, New Mexico and are currently based out of hipster haven Portland, Oregon. They’ll be sure to include some new tracks from recently released album, “Heartworms” plus hits like “New Slang,” which helped the band gain fame when it was featured in the 2004 film “Garden State.”
Following the success of this hit song, The Shins’ next album “Wincing the Night Away” reached the No. 2 spot on the billboard charts and earned the band a Grammy nomination. From 2008-2013, The Shins became a one-man band as James Mercer remained the only member to stick around. He began touring with a new backing band consisting of performers from other popular indie bands.
The Shins’ indie pop hits border on the folk side and are perfect for enjoying under the stars on a late spring evening at this Council Bluffs concert at Stir Concert Cove.
