Backstretch Facilities and Services

Dormitories, restrooms, locker rooms, and shower facilities are available. Dormitory room contracts are issued by the Dormitory Supervisor, Teena Walden, at (765) 609-4834.

The Backstretch Kitchen, The Horseshoe Café, is available for breakfast, specials, and short orders from early morning to the last race of the night during live racing. The facility closes after training hours on Monday, and is closed all day on Sunday. To reach The Backstretch Kitchen, call (765) 609-4844.

Laundry service is also provided to the residents of the dormitory. Outside laundry services are also available and can be arranged with the Dormitory Supervisor.

Personal mail will be placed in the mailbox located in the race office vestibule. Packages and items requiring signatures will be kept in the Human Resources Office located on the second floor of the Grandstand. A notice will be placed in the mail box on the backstretch for these items.

Midwest Harness Supply is located just outside the racing office on the backside and provides high quality horse supplies. MHS is open both during the racing and off season. To contact the tack shop, call (765) 524-8319.

Check Cashing

Horsemen’s personal checks must be approved by the general manager, the mutuel manager (or her designate), or the controller. The approved check can be cashed at the Money Room located in the lower level hall of the grandstand facility.


The clubhouse and grandstand are open seven days a week for simulcasting. Doors open at 11 a.m. Admission is free.

Mail Policy

First class mail will be forwarded when you leave, if a forwarding address is available. After 30 days, the mail will be returned to sender. All other mail is destroyed.


All standard wagering is accepted at Hoosier Park. (Win, Place, Show, Daily Double, Exacta, Trifecta, Superfecta, 10 cent Superfecta, 50 cent Trifecta, Pick Three, and Pick Four.) Self service machines and mutuel tellers are available during both live racing and simulcasting. The FastBet Wagering Technology is also available at Hoosier Park.

Race Replays — Live Racing

Replays will be shown prior to the racing program on the following night. Race Replays are also available on-line through the Trakus system on Hoosier Park’s Website under the racing section. On Track Dining

Hoosier Park dining options include the Homestretch Restaurant, Prime Harvest Buffet, or Homestretch Steakhouse, located in the clubhouse section of the racing building. All facilities are non-smoking. VooDoo BBQ & Grill and Caballo Loco are located in the Terrace. Dog n’ Suds is also offered on the lower level of the grandstand. The casino floor offers The Big Deli, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Gift Shop

Shelby’s Gifts is located inside the main entrance and will be open during all live racing programs. Anyone with a current Indiana Horse Racing Commission license will receive a 10 percent discount. (Temporarily Closed)

Track Photographs and Videos

For winner’s circle and other photos, contact Dean Gillette, track photographer, located on the lower level of the clubhouse at (765) 609-4709. Videotapes may be purchased through the Audio Visual Office on the lower level of the clubhouse or by calling (765) 609-4885. All orders must be paid for in advance or taken from the purse account. Orders may also be placed through the horsemen’s bookkeeper, Phebe Penn, at (765) 609-4871.

Horsemen’s Activities

Hoosier Park provides golf and bowling outings for all horsemen. Events are held throughout the season for anyone holding an IHRC license.
