I travel a lot for work and I know that when big events are in town the prices go up. But $499 a night for this property, plus a $40 "resort fee" then being gouged an extra $30 to check in 15 minutes before 2pm puts me over the edge. I needed to be at the Venetian (Sands Expo center) for a trade show. It was sold out and Harrah's was close enough to avoid the inevitable 2 hour cab line after the event. I sucked it up and paid the high price, but the extra fees ticked me off. In hindsight I should have just stayed farther away and walked to and from the event. On the positive side, I liked the room, staff was friendly and the Fulton Street Food Hall was quite convenient. I also enjoyed the rock band playing out back every night. Heads up that there's tons of construction around this hotel, and the beep beep beep of construction vehicles woke me up every morning. Looks like this is going to be the case for quite a while as the projects are expansive. Bottom line, at $200-250 a night I'd have been delighted but at $499, not so much.
