Harrah’s Northern California to temporarily suspend operations
IONE, Calif. (March 17, 2020) – For the well-being of guests and team members, Harrah’s Northern California will temporarily suspend operations beginning at 6 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18.
This temporary halt is a precautionary measure only and was made out of concern for public health. There have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Harrah’s Northern California. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has made increasingly urgent warnings for the public to remain home and practice social distancing in order to stem the spread of the virus.
“This decision was not made lightly as it comes with great impact to our team members,” said Rhonda Pope-Flores, Buena Vista Rancheria Chairwoman. “However, given the call for aggressive containment and mitigation efforts and to do our part to protect our team members, guests and community, we felt a suspension in operations was the responsible thing to do.”
During the closure, Harrah’s Northern California team members will receive two-weeks’ pay for their regular hourly wages or salaries and benefits will not be interrupted.
In recent weeks, the property has implemented enhanced cleaning procedures to its already stringent sanitation protocol and had taken additional steps to support social distancing in the casino.
Tribal and Harrah’s Northern California leadership continue to closely monitor the evolving situation and will follow recommended guidelines working closely with local and state agencies to establish a re-opening date as soon as advised. Harrah’s Northern California looks forward to welcoming guests and team members back to the casino as soon as the current challenges have passed.
