Imagine the talent at College Station in the late 1970s. Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen were both students at Texas A & M and struck up a friendship and a mutual respect for one another’s musical abilities. The two Texan songwriters soon teamed up and co-wrote “The Front Porch Song.”
The two countrymen would go on to cut their own paths as necessary cogs in the wheel of Texas country music and major figures in creating modern Americana music.
In 2012, Lovett and Keen, (along with Townes Van Zandt), were inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame.
These two vital American artists take over the South Shore Showroom on Feb. 10.
