Everywhere I went the staff greeted me with a genuine smile. Even many that I didn’t interact with. Many employees passing by would greet me, including janitors. The first hotel room we had a loud family above us, so they moved us without any hesitation. The dealers were friendly and had genuine conversations. That was appreciated because many times the generic stuff is boring and seems so forced. Speaking to the blackjack dealers was a breath of fresh air. The negatives was definitely the poker area. I walk up to their little booth and the two “suits” saw me walking up, but just started their own conversation. After standing there for a moment they finally acknowledge me without any greeting. I ask about the $1/2 table then tell me to go get chips and pointed at a general direction. Then I ask about the poker tournament. I had questions about it but they seemed to really want me to go away... so they tell me again to “buy in” at the cage. Which brings me to my next negative...As a tourist I was taking photos of the nicer part of the casino areas. However the lady far away behind the cashier cage started yelling at me saying no pictures.... which creeps me out that she was watching me do whatever I was doing on my phone, and her tone and everything about that situation was rude. I felt my privacy was kind of being violated. Then it got awkward because that’s where I had to go to buy the tournament ticket.... which brings me to the next negative...I get the ticket for my table and seat. However all the dealers saw me walking around but they were all covering their table number with their elbows. No one is there to assist with the seating which is annoying.... But all in all that poker situation was a small fraction of my trip. I was there for the weekend. I did enjoy the rest of the staff a lot. They really made the difference. The hotel itself is kind of dated. But it was still comfortable. The room was big. Carpets could/should be replaced. And there was a lot of construction going on for the new fancy casino being opened in December 2019. So I believe that will all work itself out on its own. Valet was awesome quick and polite, and we used it quite a bit
Great get away
