We had not been to Tunica for a couple of years since the Covid thing. But decided to do a mini road trip to Horseshoe Southern Indiana then on to Horseshoe Tunica. We use to get comp rooms, free play etc. but since we had not played/stayed for so long we no longer get this perk. So we decided to have fun, spend some money and re build our accounts. Now we did get a "Casino Rate" for our rooms so I have no complaint on that part. My complaint is that the Tunica property and staff have really gone down hill.On our arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner. I was given a King room Non Smoking as I had requested. When we hauled our suitcase and clothes to the room.. Imagine that.. the room keys do not work... so all the way back to the desk for new keys.. I ask the lady if perhaps there was a room a bit closer and her response was this was a close room.. I guess that she had never actually looked to see where these rooms are really located. Also she said maybe I had not kept the keycard in the lock long enough. DUH.. i do know how to use a keycard. If you put it in and the light shows red instead of green it means it was not programmed correctly. So she gives us 3 keycards this time to make sure at least one of them will work.Well we got back to the room, opened the door and saw a King room with NO chairs of any kind, NO desk, just a bed ,nightstands and a TV . OK this is pretty basic but we can live with this for one night. So I open the drapes and look out at the... nothing... just looking right into a wall and if I lean really far I can see a roof with AC units. Now if I had been given this room as a comp I would have not have anything to complain about. But I paid money for this no chair, no view of any kind room. I was ready to go back down to the desk and demand another room but the Wife said No... She had already walked the hallways too many times. We had driven too many hours in terrible rain storms she just wanted to get something to eat, play some slots and relax. After all she said it is only for one night, live with it.Bottom line, the bed was comfortable. The slots paid enough for us to break nearly even and provided several hours of entertainment. The meal at JBs café was not great but did provide a filling although badly overpriced meal. The impression I take away from this visit is that the hotel is badly in need of a remodel. The people need some customer service training. And the food service needs to step it up. Nothing in our stay would ever make me want to return. So sad to see how badly the Horseshoe and even the Gold Strike have degraded.
