Have wanted to make a trip to Tunica for quite some time from Nashville. I used to live in Memphis and went there 2-3 times/month. We just went to the Horseshoe over the Memorial Day weekend and stayed at the GoldStrike Casino because rates were cheaper. Two years ago we would get comps for the weekdays, those days are gone. Now the rooms are ridiculous and it doesn't matter what day you look at. The casinos are slowly fading away. The crowds are small, there's little to no excitement there anymore and to be honest, West Memphis is putting these guys out of business. My free rooms used to cost me about $2,000 in betting each visit, now they won't see any of my money because I refuse to pay the ridiculous room rate for a shabby room. The managers of the these properties are not making good decisions by pushing up the room rates.Poker room play was horrible. 1 table of 1/3 NL and 3 other tables with players is not my idea of an action packed night. My wife wanted to stay another night, I said no and we headed to West Memphis. Best decision I made all weekend, because they had a party going on up there at their place. Gambling was fun and there were a ton of people in that place.I think it's important to show your respect and go visit a dying friend. You should stop by Tunica one last time before they are buried.
