Getting to Tunica. Getting to Tunica is a royal pain. We traveled from the North on I-55. Half-way thru Memphis you must choose between I-55 and US61. We continued on I-55 ad 64 has stop-go signs and transfers some part of Memphis. Strangely, despite being on I-55, one must take a single lane exit (to the right) to stay on I-55. It was about 4PM, and the road was crazy. A bit further South, we took I-69 to the Tunica area. Going home we took 61 on a Sunday morning. It was great! On a week day afternoon, it would likely be just as bad. Bottom line: There is no good way to get thru Memphis, just be prepared for it.Situation and check-in: We journeyed to Horseshoe to attend the Scotty McCreery concert. We were comped two nights in a premium room on the 7th floor. At check-in, we found that we were a day late for our reservation and that it had been canceled. Perhaps we were helped by the fact we are both Diamonds, but they were able to find us a room and it was comped! Valet was prompt and very professional. Be alert, they will text your claim check to your phone, which provides a link to reclaim it later. Worked slick. The premium room is spacious. Lighting was scarce! There is a small refrigerator and an inconvenient safe. The bathroom is large enough, but much of the space is taken up by a large tub/shower combination. We much prefer a walk-in shower. Furnishings seemed new but the L-shaped couch and single chair were not very comfortable. Bed was comfortable.Electrical outlets were limited. I used a power-bar that I carry with.Spa: We had a manicure and pedicure at the hotel spa. It is very small with three stations for manicures and pedicures. A spa area is just off the reception, and has very few amenities. It was reasonably priced.
