Things have changed a lot since I was last at the Horseshoe a few months ago. Mostly for the better. The room was excellent and very large. It had the softest bed and snuggly bedding and I slept better than I ever had in a hotel. If you skip the housekeeping, they will credit you with $10 on your player's card. You can still ask for clean towels, etc.The gambling was about as usual, although not nearly as many people were there this trip. The casino nearly seemed empty. It livened up towards the weekend. The only complaint I had was that the buffet was not open for lunch. I had coupons for free buffets and couldn't use them, even though the coupon said it was open from 11 - 3 for lunch. They about force you to use one of their other restaurant outlets unless you want to leave the property for lunch. The casino host said JB's cafe would take my mail coupon for lunch for a limit of $15. so I ate lunch there. I ordered the Club Sandwich. DO NOT ORDER THIS unless you are starving, or have another person with you to help you eat it. It was delicious and came with fries. It was HUGE!!! The staff was friendly also, and I enjoyed the sandwich, but it still was not the buffet . And I found out that instead of using my coupon, they deducted 1400 points from my player's card. When I explained that to the casino host, she was nice enough to get the points back on my card.(BTW, the Goldstrike doesn't have a lunch buffet anymore either). The table game dealers and pit bosses were extremely helpful and friendly. Andy, a pit boss, was extremely helpful and friendly. Also, the craps and baccarat dealers.I enjoyed my 3 night stay and will be returning again asap.
