My daughter and I stayed 2 nights (Wednesday and Thursday). Check in was great. They have put coffee pots back in the rooms again! YAY! We didn't like going to Starbucks in our PJ's to get our morning coffee. They must have listened to complaints. The room was normal. Clean, with usual amenities except that we had no remote control for the tv. I contacted the "virtual assistant" and they said someone would be up soon with one, but after 1/2 hour no one had come so we went gambling. On our return, had to contact them again about it and had one delivered in less than 5 minutes. We did not play the slots. The craps tables did terrible Wed. evening, but Thursday evening were much better. We also came back on Friday night and had fairly good luck, although they changed all the craps table limits to $10 and up. The pit boss, Andy, was once again, very friendly and helpful. All the dealers at the craps tables were knowledgeable and helpful. We ate our evening meals at the buffet Wed, Thu and Friday. The only time it was better than "poor" was the Seafood Buffet on Friday. The other 2 evenings the food was depleted and the entire restaurant was neglected and dilapidated. No one cleaned up any spilled gravies, sauces, etc. The selection was extremely poor. The Chinese area had dried out vegetables and the cook kept his back turned to the line, I suppose he was hoping no one would want him to cook anything for them. No noodles either. There was no shrimp of any kind, cold, hot or otherwise. No white meat chicken. I could go on and on about it. The dessert area I think was the worst. The ice cream toppings containers were down to crumbs, and there were cookie crumbs and messes everywhere. No cakes except a couple of cupcakes. 2 pieces of pie that had 1/2 of them broken off and lying forlornly on the plates. There were a few good looking chocolate covered eclairs that looked good, but were so dry that we couldn't choke them down. With so few servers and the newly installed self serve drink machines, the lines to get drinks was long.On Friday night, there was one busboy who was carefully cleaning around the chafing dishes and wiping everything down nicely. We even complimented him and gave him a tip for doing a good job. Things like that are noticed and appreciated by customers.I hate to complain when I really do like the Horseshoe (and always have) but I think constructive criticism can make things better.
