Good room for a guy's weekend and a good price
The Rio is always an interesting place for me. It is comfortable, like an old pair of sneakers. In the same way, it has also seen many miles and frays at the edges. We had a guy's weekend and it...More

It was okay, but not great.
The rooms are fine and the employees are wonderful. No list in the room of what was available or the different places to eat inside this hotel/casino. Also, every time I left my room or stepped off...More

Ok hotel. Wouldn’t stay again
We recently stayed here for 9 nights. While the rooms are large, they are extremely outdated. The shower curtains are stained and old, the shower heads are terrible and have blue mold on them, the...More

Star Trek convention annual hotel
We have stayed at the Rio annually at least 6 years. This hotel is a way off the strip but easy 8$ Uber to most major Strip destinations. Prices 59-120$, largest rooms, 2 towers. Busy somewhat...More

Midnight breech of room security

The Rio is always an interesting place for me. It is comfortable, like an old pair of sneakers. In the same way, it has also seen many miles and frays at the edges. We had a guy's weekend and it was quite comfortable to be in the room with two doubles and a couch (or a wheel in extra bed). Yes, the rooms are outdated. The price for the room is also much less than the places that are new and fancy (or newly remodeled). This is a place to stay as a staging area to go all over Vegas, as opposed to some resorts that you feel like you are never going to leave. We ate one meal here (the giant buffet), but the money we saved on the room was spent on gambling and eating all over Vegas. I always appreciate my stay here for the mix of value and a place to crash before heading back out. If you want a fancy, updated place, pay more somewhere else.

The rooms are fine and the employees are wonderful. No list in the room of what was available or the different places to eat inside this hotel/casino. Also, every time I left my room or stepped off the elevator, I was overwhelmed by the smell of pot smoke. I heard other people talking about this problem, too.

We recently stayed here for 9 nights. While the rooms are large, they are extremely outdated. The shower curtains are stained and old, the shower heads are terrible and have blue mold on them, the taps at the sink all have mold, part of the wall in the bathroom was rotted out. The bed was comfy. And the room included a mini fridge and a safe. During our stay, our room was only cleaned twice. We constantly had to call down to request towels and toilet paper. The two times our room was cleaned, our garbage wasn’t taken. We had to place our garbage outside our room in the hallway In order to have it taken. The second last night two security staff showed up to inspect our room. They stayed because we opted out of room cleaning they were required to inspect our room. We were confused as to how we opted out of room cleaning since we didn’t speak to anyone about it. The hotel is quite far from the strip, which restricts you somewhat. Lyft is definitely the way to go when staying here! We’ve been to Vegas 6 times now. Each time we try to stay somewhere new. We won’t be returning back to the Rio.

We have stayed at the Rio annually at least 6 years. This hotel is a way off the strip but easy 8$ Uber to most major Strip destinations. Prices 59-120$, largest rooms, 2 towers. Busy somewhat smokey casino to walk through but huge nonsmoking convention facilities. Rooms a little shabby and dated but quiet, oversized and really excellent maid services. Special praise to Leehann who was cheerful personable and just made everything better! Nice tv, nice views, multiple large pools. Coffeemaker only in higher end rooms. Friendly helpful staff from front desk, valet, bell desk, maintenance security and housekeeping. Everybody was nice. We love having a drink at masquerade bar or rooftop Voodoo lounge! Where else can you drink with starfleet and Klingons and everyone so casual about it! 2 of our favorite restaurants anywhere are at the Rio; Hash House-a-gogo and Guy Fierri’s Burro Borracho (sp?)If attending a Star Trek convention this is the biggest and best! And the Rio does s good job hosting.

My husband stopped at the Rio to break up a long drive moving from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City. He was exhausted and was sleeping when someone barged into his room at midnight and got past the security bar on the door. He yelled at them and they left. When he complained at the front desk he was told that random room checks are standard security procedure. Complete BS. The Rio has lost our business forever.
