I've previously stayed at this hotel before so when it was time to book a room for a Vegas Vacation I did not hesitate. We booked a four day three night stay, wanting to check in on Thursday and checking out on Sunday. I wish I would have come online and read previous reviews. When I say they got us with a bait and switch I mean they got us with a bait and switch. The pictures listed on the website and even in some of the reviews shows an extremely clean hotel, located right next to the strip with pretty good sized rooms. What we got when we arrived was an old, worn down, dirty and smoke filled experience. Valet was closed so we had to self park and walk all the way through the casino to the registration desk to check in. Self check-in at the kiosk is where the good starts and ends. Once we were able to find the right elevator for our floor, upon stepping off the elevator we were greeted by the smell of weed. The entire floor smelled of nothing but it. Bothered, we made our way to the room, only to enter a small, dirty, smellier, old run down room. The decor and linens were something out of the 80's. There was a huge stain on one section of the carpet, sticky stuff on the night stands, stained and smeared finger prints on the wall. Looking at the sink we could tell they hadn't been properly cleaned. There were dirt smears on the light switches and door knobs. The lining of the tub was molded and rusted AND there was a trail or water/dirt leading into the tub where a bunch of dirty feet marks greeted us. Upset, I called downstairs to ask to be moved to another room to be told there were none available and I'd have to call back the next day. They sent the head of housekeeping upstairs to "clean" the dirty areas I complained about. When she arrived she had an attitude while explaining that she cleaned the room "as best she could" but would nonetheless clean the areas I pointed out. After scrubbing a wall for five minutes she said she was done and left. After she left the more we looked around the room the more we realized how disgusting that place was. As I went to lock the door, it was then I realized our room door did not lock and the little latch was the only thing that would keep someone from just entering. Cigarette smoke and weed took turns permeating throughout our room (non of us are smokers). The level of noise outside the off the charts- so many times it sounded like someone was standing right outside ready to come in. Pissed off, I went online and booked us a real suite at the Hilton (which is what I should of done from the get go) for the same price we would have paid for the Rio. We didn't sleep that night, between the noise, cigarettes and weed, none of us felt ok enough to rest. The next morning I went downstairs to check out and was never asked why I was ending my stay earlier than expected. I'm sure they knew and they know of the issues this hotel has. Seems as though since they've been brought out, they only care about collecting peoples money and nothing else. I was told since I paid first nights deposit online, I would not have to pay anything else-my receipt shows a balance due of $0. But now I have a $742 charge pending on my card from Rio- Las Vegas. Please avoid this place at all costs.

We came back to Vegas from lake havasu az to catch our flight. Because we were only staying one night we were “upgraded” to another suite. We we went from Mountain View (which was fine) to street view. The view was fantastic but the room I would not consider an upgrade. The carpet was torn and looked unclean in places and the table was half broken. The amenities were clean and sleek but no what I’d considered the upgrade the were giving us. Would definitely stay again. But not on the 19th floor. All you could hear was the top (20th) floor stomping around partying all night

I wanted to believe this place couldn't be as bad as many of the reviews I've seen. I've stayed here before the renovation and it wasn't bad, so I figured it would be better after. I was so wrong. I'm writing this as I sit in my room that was supposed to be a King Suite with a Strip View, but instead has 2 queens and a view of... the other tower. That's it. The check in was horrendous. I checked in online ahead of time and told to proceed to the express check in kiosks. Instead I found myself waiting in a 90min line as all 10 or so of the kiosks were off. The person who eventually checked us in could only say they didn't work. Duh. Sitting in my room that isn't my room, I call the front desk to tell them it's wrong, only to be told they don't guarantee rooms, but if I want to hold they'll try to get me the right room tomorrow. After 15 min was told no other rooms were available at all. Sure they weren't. I threw in the towel and sent hubby on a mission to get ice to make a drink. 15min later he came back after finding the ice machine on our floor dead, having to go to another, and wait 10min for the elevator to come back. We just got here. The first night we slept on one bed that did not fit the bed frame properly so the mattress hung off one side and the end of the bed. It was so soft, squishy and bouncy that it felt like an old car with bad shocks. My aching back agrees. 2nd night we slept on the other bed which was much more firm though still strangely bouncy.Went to one of the bars in the hotel to each grab a drink. $38 for 2 small drinks with the least amount of alcohol you can put in a drink, and I'm not much of a drinker. My white Russian was milk on the rocks with a splash of kahlua. If there was vodka in it I didn't see the bartender pour it nor did I taste it. He was at least friendly. Later on we headed to Purple Zebra for a frozen cocktail. Bartender was really rude, they were out of every size listed on their menu, but at least my drink had booze in it. We planned on gambling and dining in the hotel but after the rest of the experience, we took that money elsewhere. I will not be returning here again.
Left my cross necklace here and I called before housekeepers were even in there and filed report lost and found report
