I've previously stayed at this hotel before so when it was time to book a room for a Vegas Vacation I did not hesitate. We booked a four day three night stay, wanting to check in on Thursday and checking out on Sunday. I wish I would have come online and read previous reviews. When I say they got us with a bait and switch I mean they got us with a bait and switch. The pictures listed on the website and even in some of the reviews shows an extremely clean hotel, located right next to the strip with pretty good sized rooms. What we got when we arrived was an old, worn down, dirty and smoke filled experience. Valet was closed so we had to self park and walk all the way through the casino to the registration desk to check in. Self check-in at the kiosk is where the good starts and ends. Once we were able to find the right elevator for our floor, upon stepping off the elevator we were greeted by the smell of weed. The entire floor smelled of nothing but it. Bothered, we made our way to the room, only to enter a small, dirty, smellier, old run down room. The decor and linens were something out of the 80's. There was a huge stain on one section of the carpet, sticky stuff on the night stands, stained and smeared finger prints on the wall. Looking at the sink we could tell they hadn't been properly cleaned. There were dirt smears on the light switches and door knobs. The lining of the tub was molded and rusted AND there was a trail or water/dirt leading into the tub where a bunch of dirty feet marks greeted us. Upset, I called downstairs to ask to be moved to another room to be told there were none available and I'd have to call back the next day. They sent the head of housekeeping upstairs to "clean" the dirty areas I complained about. When she arrived she had an attitude while explaining that she cleaned the room "as best she could" but would nonetheless clean the areas I pointed out. After scrubbing a wall for five minutes she said she was done and left. After she left the more we looked around the room the more we realized how disgusting that place was. As I went to lock the door, it was then I realized our room door did not lock and the little latch was the only thing that would keep someone from just entering. Cigarette smoke and weed took turns permeating throughout our room (non of us are smokers). The level of noise outside the off the charts- so many times it sounded like someone was standing right outside ready to come in. Pissed off, I went online and booked us a real suite at the Hilton (which is what I should of done from the get go) for the same price we would have paid for the Rio. We didn't sleep that night, between the noise, cigarettes and weed, none of us felt ok enough to rest. The next morning I went downstairs to check out and was never asked why I was ending my stay earlier than expected. I'm sure they knew and they know of the issues this hotel has. Seems as though since they've been brought out, they only care about collecting peoples money and nothing else. I was told since I paid first nights deposit online, I would not have to pay anything else-my receipt shows a balance due of $0. But now I have a $742 charge pending on my card from Rio- Las Vegas. Please avoid this place at all costs.
