I stayed at Rio because my rate was comped. But it was really NOT a true comp as I was "forced" to pay a "mandatory" daily resort fee of $36.28 which came out to a total of $145. I called and ask what the resort fee was for. I was told that it is use of the gym, Internet access, and use of the business center to print boarding passes. When I said that I do not plan to use any of those services so why do I have to pay for them? She then said sorry, they are "mandatory." I then asked if there was anything else she can do for me such as a comp buffet or show tickets. She flat out said NO. Vegas casinos needs to do away with this rip-off resort fee. If I want to use to the gym, charge me for the day or by the hour but don't force me to pay. Many people use their phone as their boarding pass now. But let's just say I do want to print mine, I would have no problem paying $1 per page but $145 for the privilege to print a page or two? It is a total money grab by the hotels. I have plenty of data on my cell phone so I do not need to use the slow hotel WiFi either. Ridiculous!Check-in was extremely slow. There were not enough agents to handle the volume of guests. It was at least a twenty minute wait before I was helped. I work in hospitality and at the hotel I work at, the manager would send more people to help guests if the line gets long. The wait time was not acceptable. Should've removed my resort fees!My room was fine. It was spacious. It was clean. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom and shower was fine. No complaints at all about the room. Rio is an older property but still quite nice. I like the sports book and the two fast food locations right next to it. The Asian food was surprisingly authentic and good. Hash A Go Go was good for breakfast. There are two Starbucks to get my caffeine fix. Overall, I had a good four night stay. I will most likely stay here again for the price and convenience. Just fix the check-in line and take away the mandatory resort fees and I would likely give Rio a better rating and review.

Had only been to the Rio once before when I was going to see Penn and Teller. When I redeemed a comp for this property, I was blown away at how much the resort offered at a lesser price compared to on-strip properties. The casino is lively and the dealers are friendly. The sports book, spa, and pool are on par with an on-strip casino. Although there's a lack of cheaper eating options (no McDonalds or Subway or anything), the restaurants they have onsite are top notch. And the room is easily one of the best I ever stayed in that wasn't a group suite or anything. Plus, it's friendly to kids, and if you wanted to spend a whole day here doing mini-golf or zipline, it's totally possible (that's what I did one day!)Totally recommend it. Short walk to the strip too, was only like 20 minutes when I was expecting an hour. Thanks Rio, I had a blast!

We recently stayed at Rio for 3 nights, which was our first time staying at the property and in the interest of full disclosure these were comp'd nights, which was the main reason behind our staying at this hotel.Sadly, the old saying of "you get what you pay for" couldn't be truer as nothing is exactly what we got by way of enjoyment or a positive impression of the property. The fact its located off the strip was fine with us as we always have a car when in LV and I have to say the valet service was as expected; however, the self park was a complete disaster with elevators which seemed extremely sketchy to say the least!Check in was quick as we arrived quite late, and although the rooms are all suites they are in desperate need of a refresh and even a decent cleaning. One of the rooms had a large stain on the carpet from who knows what and from who knows when and the fact that its clearly a high traffic property was evident with worn out carpet and uncomfortable furniture. Furthermore, there appeared to be a cigarette butt in the hallway, in the same place for consecutive days which indicates to me that the 'cleaning' of the property in general is basic at best.WiFi in the room didn't work at all and was only barely usable on the casino floor. The fact that they offer an 'all suite' experience is somewhat lessened though by the lack of even the most basic coffee maker in the room and the general untidiness of the interior.Suffice it to say, I will not be returning to this property and would advise against anyone staying here until they renovate the place from top to bottom as the only time i'm likely to stay here in future is if they pay me to do so!!

I booked with 20% off online and prepaid then only after I arrived at the hotel “oh by the way the resort fee is charged separately “ ... they charged me $35 per person and had me signed 3-page agreements :(Strip view is another phony promotional term, as 90% is highways and a sliver of street is lurking in the corner.Contemporary decor is another questionable sales pitch they used; the room I got was 19th floor of masquerade (newer annex) and the world seems to stopped at 90s. Not even a phone charging station. Brass sconces, wood and fabric bed canopy. AC blow panel is filled with dust. Yuck! :( :( :(They seem to pinch pennies at every corner. No bed skirts. Roomy but only one trash bin. NO coffee maker. WHAT.
