Tim Donovan, Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Chief Legal, Risk and Security Officer of Caesars Entertainment

Tim Donovan is Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Chief Legal, Risk and Security Officer for Caesars Entertainment. Donovan advises the company on all legal requirements and responsibilities. He also oversees safety and security strategy, policies, protocols and initiatives across all Caesars properties and functions.

Donovan joined Caesars in April 2009 as General Counsel. During the past nine years, he has overseen multiple areas at Caesars, including the legal, risk, regulatory, security, anti-money laundering and compliance departments. Under Donovan’s leadership, Caesars Law department was named “Best Legal Department” in 2013 by Corporate Counsel Magazine. Donovan was also personally recognized by The National Law Journal on the list of “America’s 50 Outstanding General Counsel” in 2014. Prior to joining Caesars Entertainment (then Harrah’s Entertainment), Donovan served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Republic Services, Inc. and its predecessor Allied Waste Industries, Inc. from April 2007 to March 2009. Earlier he served as Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development and General Counsel of Tenneco, Inc. from July 1999 to March 2007. He also served as a member of Tenneco’s board of directors from 2004 to March 2007.

Donovan was a partner at a Chicago-based law firm of Jenner & Block from 1989 to September 1999. While there, he served as a member of the firm's executive committee and as the chairman of its Corporate and Securities Department. Donovan is also currently a director of John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. This publicly traded company is a leading nut and snack food processor based in Elgin, Illinois. He is the chairman of its Compensation Committee and a member of the Audit and Governance Committees.

Donovan is a member of the American and Chicago Bar Associations.  He has a Bachelor of Science from Ohio State University and received his law degree from Capital University.
